A Dad's Educational Experiment in the AI Era
Opening: A Second Life and the New Battlefield of AI
After a long period of military service, I started my second life in the venture capital (VC) ecosystem—the absolute frontline of tech and innovation.
Witnessing the disruptive innovations of startups every day, I became convinced of one thing: AI is fundamentally changing human life, and only those who adapt to this speed of change will survive. In this massive technological battlefield I face as a veteran, I am embarking on a new challenge.
The Cast: Dad and Son
Let me introduce the reliable allies who will join this journey.
Dad is a veteran-turned tech VC associate who enjoys poker, magic, piano, and basketball as hobbies, while deep-diving into crypto and trading as an active builder. He harbors a romantic dream of one day riding a motorcycle freely around the world.
Son is a 7-year-old boy and Dad’s absolute best friend who respects him more than anyone in the world. He goes crazy for science YouTuber Mark Rober, builds Minecraft worlds with Dad, and is a curious kid who loves playing Nintendo Wii and chess.
Philosophy & Balance: Coexistence of AI Tools and Critical Thinking
Of course, there are concerns about exposing a young child to AI. Mom, the sturdy pillar of our household and Chief Education Manager, offered some sharp advice:
“Relying too much on AI can deteriorate a child’s critical thinking skills. True depth of thought is cultivated through reading, so a balance must be strictly maintained.”
I couldn’t agree more. That is why we will limit our use of AI to a ‘Tool’ that turns the child’s imagination into reality, not a magic wand that spits out the right answers. The process of building and launching mini web-apps based on the imagination sparked by reading books—that is the educational balance VibeDad aims for.
Outro: The Purpose of Project VibeDad
In the near future, the ‘entrepreneurial spirit’ of creating value and productizing ideas will become a far more crucial skill than merely surviving as a salaryman.
I plan to transparently record the entire process of planning, developing, and launching educational web apps with my son, and gathering user feedback. This is an anonymous lean startup journal of a Dad and Son learning technology, building products, and sharing them with the world.

**아빠(Dad)**는 군인 출신의 테크 VC 심사역으로, 취미로 포커, 마술, 피아노, 농구를 즐기며 크립토와 트레이딩을 파고드는 액티브한 빌더입니다. 언젠가 오토바이를 타고 자유롭게 세계를 누비는 로망을 갖고 있죠.
**아들(Son)**은 7살 소년으로, 아빠를 세상에서 가장 존경하는 최고의 친구입니다. 과학 실험 유튜버 마크 로버에 열광하고, 아빠와 함께 마인크래프트 월드를 만들거나 닌텐도 위(Wii), 체스를 즐기는 호기심 많은 아이입니다.
철학과 밸런스: AI 툴 활용과 비판적 사고의 공존
물론 어린 나이의 AI 접촉에 대한 우려도 있습니다. 우리 집안의 든든한 기둥이자 교육 총괄 매니저인 엄마(Mom)는 날카로운 조언을 건넸습니다.
“AI에 지나치게 의존하면 아이의 비판적 사고 능력이 퇴화할 수 있다. 진짜 깊이 있는 사고는 독서를 통해 길러지니 반드시 균형을 잡아야 한다.”
백번 동감합니다. 그래서 우리는 AI를 정답을 알려주는 요술 지팡이가 아니라, 아이의 상상력을 현실로 구현해 주는 **‘도구(Tool)’**로만 제한하여 사용할 것입니다. 책을 읽고 상상한 결과물을 AI 툴을 통해 미니 웹앱으로 직접 빌드하고 상용화해 보는 검증 프로세스, 그것이 VibeDad가 지향하는 교육의 밸런스입니다.

가까운 미래에는 단순히 직장인으로 살아가는 것보다, 스스로 가치를 창출하고 아이디어를 제품화하는 **‘기업가 정신’**이 핵심 능력이 될 것입니다.
